Darrell Newell Obituary

NEWELL -- Darrell P., 77, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2006. Retired from American Airlines in May, 1981, after more than 25 years of loyal service. Darrell was born December 30, 1928, in Tulsa, OK, to W.A. and Delma Newell. In 1948, he graduated from Berryhill High School. Darrell was married to Jean McCann for 57 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and daily fed and watered the birds and squirrels at his home in Berryhill. He was a member of First Christian Church, downtown Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard. Survivors include, his wife, Jean of the home; son, Mike and wife, Cindy; granddaughter, Andrea all from Buena Vista, CO; grandson, David of Durant, OK; daughter, Paula and husband, Chris of College Station, TX; granddaughter, Paige of Tuscaloosa, AL; sisters, Zona VanArsdale and husband, Edward, and Linda Newell all of Tulsa; brothers, Ron and wife, Jean of San Marcos, TX, Charles and wife, Sandra of Lincoln, KS; sisters-in-law, Louise Newell of Mannford, OK, Susan McCann of Las Vegas, NV; special niece, Kay VanArsdale of Tulsa; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Special acknowledgments to his dearest friends, Eugene Brasiola and Mike Schmidt. Darrell will be missed by his family, friends, neighbors and hunting dog, Jack. Funeral service, 1 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2006, in the First Christian Church Chapel, 9th and Boulder. The Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 585-1151.
