Dave Cisco Obituary

CISCO - Dave, 68, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a photography scholarship fund in the name of "Dave Cisco," at Wells Fargo Bank, 851 Winscott Road, Benbrook, TX 76126. Dave was born March 26, 1941, in Okmulgee, OK to the late Carl H. and Elizabeth Anne Cisco. He grew up in Tulsa, OK, where he met his future wife, Jo Rita Doerr. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. At Oklahoma State University, he earned his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering. During that time, he and Jo Rita were married. He was a Lambda Chi Alpha, as well as president and member of several Electrical Engineering and honor fraternities. After graduation, Dave began his career in the aerospace industry at General Dynamics, Fort Worth, in Research and Development. Several years later he left to help start an electronics firm, Information Identification, Inc. In 1980, he began a simultaneous career in photography. He enjoyed photographing in various countries of the world but found he really loved photographing people. He and his wife started their photography studio, "Portraiture By Dave Cisco." He retired in 2006, from Lockheed-Martin so he could devote more time to photography. As well as having the studio, he became area co-coordinator for a charitable organization "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep." In his photography career he earned his Master-Craftsman degrees from Professional Photographers of America as well as his Certified Professional Photographer's degree. He was a member of the Southwest Professional Photographers' Association and the Texas Professional Photographers' Association where he earned many awards. Included in those awards were his Full-Fellowship degree from Texas, and Fuji Masterpiece and Kodak Gallery Awards. He was a member of the Fort Worth Professional Photographers' Association where he won Photographer-of-the-Year awards as well as many others. Along the way he found time to prepare programs to teach other professional photographers; write articles for national photography magazines; judge print competitions; and mentor other professional photographers. Dave was preceded in death by son, Marc Cisco, of Fort Worth. Survivors: wife of almost 46 years, Jo Rita Cisco of Fort Worth; daughter, Carissa Hudson and her family, Joel and Blaine Hudson of Lewisville; grandsons, Hunter and Jordan Cisco of Fort Worth; brother, Mike Cisco and his family of Prosper and Fort Worth; brother, Steve Cisco and son, of Ventura, CA; other loved ones and friends; colleagues from Lockheed-Martin and in the photographic industry all over the United States. JoRita, We were shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. He had a wonderful heart. We will always feel blessed that he agreed to do our wedding photos (even if it was one of the hotest days in May ever!). God bless -

Jo Rita, I was so shocked to hear of Dave's death and was so unexpected! I will so miss him. He always said he didn't understand my mind or way of seeing but I took this as sort-of a compliment and we used to laugh about it when he judged my work at the FWCC. He was a GREAT and talented photographer and had so many accomplishments. I know you will miss him greatly. I have known you and Dave a long time though we seldom got to see each other it was always great when we did and visiting from time-to-time. I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you. Warmest thoughts--SHARON WRIGHT (Mansfield, TX)

Jo Rita, I just heard tonight of Dave's death. I am so sad. I just lost Scott August 1st, and I guess that is why I didn't learn about Dave until now. I am just so very sorry. Dave was the most wonderful photographer in the world! We loved him and you. Margaret Sargent

Jo Rita,
My sister just noticed in the paper the notice on Dave Cisco. His grandmother Clo and our grandmother Hazel Abbott were sisters. My sister Loretta Wynn, saw the wedding notice when your daughter got married and called and talked to Dave at that time. She told me then how nice he was when they visited on the phone. We are both very sorry to hear of his passing and just wanted you to know, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Virginia Harper
