Fern Smith Obituary

SMITH- Fern LaDale Campeau (Riley) Smith, 93, of Tulsa, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009. Born October 16, 1915, in New Dale, ID to the late Henry Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Ashcraft) Campeau. Mrs. Smith owned and operated "LaDale School of Design and Dressmaking". An entrpreneur from an early age, she was a professional seamstress all her life...Notably, making gowns for Lawrence Welk's first Champagne Lady, Roberta Linn. She loved doll collecting and researching genealogy which led to her being both registrar of the Daughters' of the American Revolution and founder of the Sedona Doll Collector's Club. She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Morris James Smith; and her brother, Donald Joseph Campeau; and sister, Constance Campeau Duckson. She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, D. Patricia and Joseph J. Lee of Tulsa and son, D. Michael Smith of Oceanside, CA; three grandsons and their families, J. Todd and Alyce Lee, of Austin, Andrew and Peter, of Tulsa, James M. and Gretchen Lee of Sedro Woolley, WA and Ryan M. Smith of Oklahoma City. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2009, at Freeeman Harris Funeral Home. Condolences may be left online at www.freemanharris.com.
