Iris Geraldine Major

Jan 19, 1930 - Mar 25, 2025

Iris Geraldine Major, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, surrounded by family. Born January 19, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, to Mazie and Benjamin Mixon, Iris lived a life marked by deep faith, fierce devotion to family, and unwavering strength.

She married Glenn Walter Major, Sr. on May 7, 1955, and together they shared 57 beautiful years and raised seven children in a home filled with love, laughter, and legendary Sunday dinners. A proud matriarch, Iris leaves behind seven children; sixteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Iris was a pillar of Christ the King Catholic Church in Tulsa for over 60 years, where she nurtured her family's strong Catholic faith. Known for her sharp wit, quiet wisdom, and famous "nine-foot-long arm" pew pinch, she was a steady, loving presence whose impact will never be forgotten.

She found joy in the simple things - baking her famous pies, keeping an immaculate home, traveling with Glenn and family, and dancing every Tuesday night in her square-dance dress. Iris also inspired many with her commitment to wellness, working out into her 90s.

Her legacy is one of strength, grace, and love. Iris's life was a testament to faith, family, and tradition. She will be missed dearly, remembered always, and cherished forever.

I am so sorry to read of Iris´ death. I still live in the home my late husband, Larry and I purchased from Iris and Glen. I love it & often think of the lives the Major´s enjoyed with 7 children growing up here. Your Mother was a wonderful person.
