J. Veitch Obituary

J. David Veitch

May 2, 1951 - Oct 21, 2025

Veitch, J. David, 74, died Tuesday, October 21, 2025. David was born in Tulsa, OK, on May 2, 1951, to Gwen and Bill Veitch. After graduating from Memorial High School (1969), David followed the family tradition of his father and uncle by attending Westminster College and graduating in 1973 with his double degree in Theology and Political Science. He was accepted into OCU Law School, where he met the daughter of old family friends from John Knox Presbyterian Church, Ginger Moore. They rocked each other's worlds and continued to do so for 52 years. They were married on June 8, 1974, right as a tornado was approaching the Tulsa Brookside area; needless to say, the reception was cut short. David thought better about law school and instead began his long and storied career as a stockbroker, Security Analyst, Hand Holder, Wealth Manager, and Financial Advisor.

David had a work ethic like no other. Every morning, he was up by 6 a.m., reading the Wall Street Journal and Tulsa World (real paper copies), checking each market as they came online, and calling his clients with the latest information. By 10 a.m., he was on the way to the office. Mondays were reserved for his lunch bunch.

Recently, David, his son, Drew, and Brother, Scott, joined the Raymond James & Associates as the Veitch Legacy Team.

David had a few great loves, first his wife, and son, his faithful, hopelessly and totally devoted lab, Abby, going to Grand Lake every Thursday. Hunting with Drew and, more than anything were his two granddaughters, who brought him more joy in the last six years than he could have imagined.

David loved Tulsa and was proud to be a Board Member of the Museum of Tulsa History. He was instrumental in the startup of Riverfield Day School and was currently active on the Board of Tulsa Classical Academy.

David is survived by his wife, Ginger Moore Veitch; son, William Andrew "Drew" Veitch, and his wife, Amy; two granddaughters, Cassidy Grace and Chloe Michelle. Also survived by two brothers, Dana Veitch of Denver, CO, Scott Veitch, his wife, Jennifer of Tulsa, OK; two nieces, Kaitlyn Veitch, Oklahoma City, OK and Marissa Veitch, Norman, OK; nephews, Alex Veitch, his wife Lynn, and Eric Veitch, all of Denver, CO, and Cash Veitch of Tulsa, OK.

In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to: The Museum of Tulsa History, formerly the Tulsa Historical Society.

David's father, Bill was a customer and a friend of mine for many years at Fay's Bicycle Shop. I am sorry for his family's loss. My prayer's for our Lord's peace and comfort for his surviving family and friends.

I knew Dave at Nimitz and Memorial. Even as a young man, he stood out as a gentleman. His obituary is a tribute to a life well lived, and it´s a blessing to share memories of such a good person.

David will be missed terribly! He had a larger than life personality and always wanted to help anyone in need. We remember several times when David would deliver the newspaper at our good friend's home by his home at Grand Lake with a beautiful smile. Condolences to Ginger and Drew and all of his family and friends who loved him. David, rest in peace
