Kathy Kidd Obituary

Kathy Lou Kidd

October 28, 1944 - July 31, 2023

Kathy Lou Kidd (Curnutte), 78, died Monday, July 31, 2023, at home.

She was born on October 28, 1944, in Vinita Oklahoma. Her parents were William (Bill) E. Curnutte and Genevieve G. Curnutte (Fitzgerald). In 1954, Bill and Genevieve founded C&L Supply, Inc. which is still headquartered in Vinita.

Kathy married Fred B. Kidd on December 29, 1962, in Vinita. Kathy graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1967. After college, Kathy had a successful taxation career with companies including Conoco and Arthur Andersen. In 1975, Kathy and Fred moved to Vinita and began their career at C&L Supply. Kathy became the Chief Financial Officer and oversaw all financial operations of the business and Fred became President handling all sales and operations. They worked together for over 45 years building the business. The business and employees of C&L were truly Kathy's passion.

Kathy was a member of the Delaware Tribe of Indians (Cherokee Nation) and she was very proud of her Native American heritage. Kathy's mom (Genevieve) was born northwest of Welch on the family's Indian allotment which is still owned within her family.

Kathy loved her family and she always set an example for grace, love and compassion. She and Fred loved travelling together and with C&L customers. Kathy loved her Oklahoma Sooners, and she also excitedly attended every activity her precious grandchildren participated in including soccer, baseball, dance and gymnastics.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Marcia Vinyard. She is survived by her husband, Fred; her brother, Mark Curnutte of Vinita; and her two sons, Ken and Mark. Ken and his wife Tracie reside at The Coves on Grand Lake. Mark and his partner Krista Lewis reside in Owasso, Oklahoma. Survivors also include four grandchildren, Holly Allen and husband, Brandon Allen of Moore, Oklahoma, Hillary McSpadden and husband, Luke McSpadden of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Carter Kidd of New Orleans, Louisiana and Chandler Kidd and partner, Jacques Scoffoni of Brooklyn, New York; and four great-grandchildren (Reed, Claire, Noah and Lyla) with one more on the way; as well many nieces and nephews. Kathy also treated Krista's son, Landon Conder, like a grandchild.

Kathy was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Vinita and the Cleora Community Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Vinita. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Craig County Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Vinita or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I remember when Kathy and Fred visited us in Oklahoma City not long after they were married. We had only been married a short time and it was a pleasant surprise to see them!

We want to say how much we were sorry to hear of Kathy's death. We were not able to visit in person for a long time, but always appreciated the Christmas Cards!
