Martha Helm

Martha Ann Helm went to be with her Lord and Savior, July 19, 2021. Martha was born in Sage, Arkansas, April 3, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Dean and Alma Rose and siblings, Roger Rose and Maxine Umphenhour. Martha graduated from Melborne High School in 1950. After graduation she followed the love of her life, Orgil Odean Helm, to Tulsa where they were married in 1951 until his death in 2001. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1954, built a house, enjoyed raising vegetables and bred quarter horses. Martha and Odean had two daughters, Deborah (Royce) Caskey and Linda (Peter II) Dysert.

Martha loved being a homemaker. She was a wonderful baker making homemade breads and desserts. Martha's hobby was painting, she attended the University of Tulsa after her children were older and studied art history. She became a Histologist and worked many years for St. John's Hospital and South Tulsa Pathology. After retirement she enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Italy. She had many exciting adventures riding behind her husband on a Honda Goldwing across the United States.

Martha took great joy and pride in her five grandchildren, Gregory (Lisa) Segraves, Andrea Segraves (Rodney Smith), Allison (David) Rollandini, Katie (Kent) Kirkwood, Peter III (Lauren) Dysert and she was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. Martha was a lifelong member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ. The family is grateful to Green Country Hospice for their kindness, care, and compassion. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten by her friends and family.

A Memorial Service is planned for Friday, July 30, 1:00 PM, at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow.
