PERKINS - Michael "Mike" A., passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Tulsa. Born October 30, 1942 in Tulsa, to Phoebe and Andrew Perkins. He is survived by: 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Russell of Tulsa, and Carol Loveland of Jacksonville, FL; 2 daughters, Andrea Thompson of Tulsa, Melissa and Keith Kunze of Broken Arrow; and 2 sons, Michael and Cara Perkins of Broken Arrow and Max Perkins of Tulsa; 7 grandchildren, Devon and Cale Thompson, Aidan, Payton and Caitlyn Perkins, Lily and Casey Kunze; and so many more family members and friends. Mike was a wonderful dad, papa, poppy, and friend to so many. We all loved him dearly and he will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2007 at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow. Michael "Mike" A. What do you say about a first cousin, a brother and a best friend. This is a guy who put friends and family first. Anyone who knows me knows that while growing up I had my issues and always walked on the wild side. Michael was always there, as was his family. A place to stay, alot to eat and anything else that I needed. As I grew up and changed my ways we remained close and watched out for each other. I loved the man and Michael will always be with me. I miss him so much but I know he is better off than all of us. He hurts no more and I guarantee he is singing to all the angels and reviving rock & roll with his idols, Elvis, Buddy Holly, all of them. He finally got discovered in heaven, God knows he deserved to be discovered while on earth, another example of "moving in mysterious ways".

I love you Michael and I will never forget you. I will be seeing you, buddy

Well one of the chapters and probably the longest one of my life, ended on Sunday July 8th, 2007 when Mike passed away. I could not begin to write all that Mike and I have gone through during our friendship years. We raised the next generation of each our namesakes and what a ride it has been. I am so thankful I was one of Mikes best friends and I can tell you he and I have had some wonderful times. Also to his family I want to let you all know that Me and Mike and the "BIG GUY" had us a few LONG TALKS during his last few days. Mike was with me when I made plans for reunion of my high school back in Southern Illinois for day that turned out to be the day of his funeral. He told me then that he wished he could go with me back there. I went knowing that he would have been with me if he could.

Mike was a great friend to me during high school years. His sister Carol was also a friend and I remember when they lived just east of Harvard on about 27th Street back then. He had a great singing voice and we used to make regular runs to Murphy's Grill for lunch hour. Mike will be missed by many whose lives he touched.

Mike Perkins WAS a fine singer in the Edison high school choirs that I conducted there in the late 50"s, singing in Special productions, and an opera or two, which I directed and produced. He was well liked, and did a responsible job in that area, and helped establish a program that stood for excellence in those days.. I will always remember him for that, and his good will. Ron Shirey, now Professor at TCU, in Ft. Worth, TX. I appreciate knowing about him, and pass my condolences to his family, a substantial one from all records

I am so sad to hear about Mike's passing. He was my first singing partner at Edison High School. I remember rehearsing with him on a song called "Blue Room". I thought it was a very sophisticated song and that we were so "romantic". Ah, the imaginings of a 16 year old. Mike came to mind throughout the years and wondered whether he was still singing. Sounds like he was and enjoying every minute of it. My heartfelt wishes go out to all his family and friends. I'm sure he will be missed by everyone. He was a very sweet and charming person.

To Mike's family...he was a former classmate of ours, having graduated from Thomas Edison HS in 1960...he had been on our "missing" list and we were saddened to learn of his passing via the newspaper obituary. He had a beautiful voice and I can still see him singing at HS functions in my memory bank. Please accept our sincere condolences.

Mike was a loving father figure to me throughout the years. I loved being around him and the family. I miss them all very much. He was a character as well as a great singer. We met Mike thru his sister, Mary, when we were all just puppies. Young people ready to enjoy the world. How quickly time goes by and it was with sorrow we read of his passing. We send our thoughts and prays to his family.

Mike "The Mike" Perkins was a dear friend of mine for many years. He was like a brother to me. A talented man who could sing most anything and he enjoyed it,as I did. We were together through good and bad times. We had many talks together and I admired his character. Our friendship was shared with many others. I will miss him greatly but I know he is with the best friend of all, Jesus Christ. I know he is hitting the highest notes he has ever hit now.
