Patricia Armstrong Obituary
Patricia Lou Knapp Armstrong, 92, passed away surrounded by family when her large, loving heart failed on December 30, 2022.
Born February 3, 1930, to Virginia Stuart and William Knapp, Pat possessed the special ability to bring out the best in everyone she met. For her, there were no strangers. She was always positive, had a sincere interest in and ability to see the good in everyone-and a special gift for remembering dates important to family, friends, and her very special clients from her long and distinguished interior design career.
Pat spent most of her life in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School, before attending the University of Oklahoma, where she became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1950, she joined an elite group of women who became some of the first flight attendants for American Airlines. The thrill of travel and the excitement of meeting new people brought a lifetime of memories-and encouraged Pat to explore the world for the rest of her life.
Pat and her loving husband of many years, Truman A. "Jack" Armstrong, raised six daughters together, which made their home full of love, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos. She enjoyed her friends and was known for her fabulous parties and festive gatherings, which she hosted nearly to her final days.
Pat Armstrong leaves behind a large legacy: Michele Qvistgaard=Petersen (Jon) of Shreveport, La; Sarah Stephens (Tim) of Houston, Texas; Rev. Susan Nanny of Pensacola, Fla; Cindy Stuart of Tulsa; Crissy Clarke (Todd) of Houston, Texas; and Aimée Belden (Derick) of Birmingham, Ala. She also has 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her final years were happily spent with Jay Hambrick, loving his humor, and having fun each day with all their good friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Saint John's Episcopal Church, 4200 South Atlanta Place in Tulsa. An internment will take place in the columbarium immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint John's Episcopal Church, or the charity of your choice.
