Dr. Robert Eugene Ragland

RAGLAND - Dr. Robert Eugene, PhD, 78, known as Bob to family and friends, died at home on Thursday, September 20, 2007. He was born in Tulsa, on November 12, 1928 to Clarence Ragland and Mrs. Anne Kuzilik Ragland Donnelly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Keeton; and his brother and sister-in-law, Harry C. Keeton and Doris Keeton Duncan. He is survived by: his wife, Dr. Edith Ragland of Norman; daughters, Anna Marie Ragland, Margaret Ellen Ragland and Dr. Charlotte Kelly Rosko; sons-in-law, Jim Comas and Bill Rosko; grandchildren, Brian David Hudson and wife, Andrea, Nicholas Robert Comas, William Keeton Rosko and Victoria Ann Rosko; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Emma Hudson; brother, Ron and wife, Bonnie Ragland; and sister, Mary Rose Burman; and many loving nieces and nephews. Dr. Ragland was graduated from Tulsa Central High School, attended Tulsa University but was graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BS with honors in Mathematics and finished with a PhD in Clinical Psychology in 1967. For many years, Dr. Ragland was the Director of the OU Clinical Psychology Clinic and the OU Counseling Center. He was also Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology and maintained a private practice in Norman. He was a member of the OU Chapter of the Society Sigma Xi and a long time member of Oklahoma Psychology Association and the American Psychological Association. He was appointed to the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists from 1977-1978, serving as Chairman in 1980. Awards included an OU Regents Award for Superior Teaching, 1976 and the OPA Distinguished Psychologist Award, 2000. Dr. Ragland was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, The Men's Dinner Club, the Young Men's Club and the Regency Dance Club. Bob had a great sense of humor and a love of music and literature. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, mentor and friend. Memorial service was Monday, September 24, at St. John's Episcopal Church. Interment was held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City. Donations to the Robert Ragland Endowment Fund, University of Oklahoma Foundation, 100 Timberdale Rd., Norman, OK 73019.
