Rev. Samuel "Sam" Owen

OWEN -- Rev. Samuel "Sam", 52, of Pavilion, Pastor at Stafford United Methodist Church and LeRoy United Methodist Church, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The Rev. Owen was born on September 5, 1954 in Mangum, OK, to Rev. Russell E. and Jean (Bryant) Owen, of Bartlesville, OK. While in seminary at SMU, he met Manilla "Nilla" Case, whom he married on August 4, 1988. Sam served the following congregations, Oklahoma Conference, 1987-1990; Saint Paul UMC, Sulphur, OK and Mill Creek; UMC, Mill Creek, OK, 1988-1989; First UMC, Ada, OK, as seminary intern; Kansas East Conference, 1993-1995; Melvern UMC, Malvern, KS and Quenemo UMC, Quenemo, KS, Kansas West Conference, 1995-1997; Herington UMC, Herington, KS, and Burdick UMC, Burdick, KS, 1997-2001; Solomon Yoked Parish (UMC & PCUSA), Solomon, KS, 2001-2003; Graham County Parish: Hill City UMC, Hill City, KS and Bogue UMC, Bogue, KS and Morland UMC, Morland, KS and 2001-2002 Studley UMC, Studley, KS; Western New York Conference; 2002- present LeRoy UMC, LeRoy, NY and Stafford UMC, Stafford, NY. Surviving along with his parents are his wife, Rev. Manilla Owen of Pavilion; 1 son, Brantley James Owen of Pavilion; 1 brother, Rev. Joe (Michelle) Owen of Shady Point, OK; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Pavilion United Methodist Church. A Memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 14, at Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, Bartlesville, OK.
