Thomas Herbert Wintle

WINTLE -- Thomas Herbert, passed away Monday, September 19, 2005, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by daughter, Stephanie Marie, and is survived by: his wife of 56 adventure-filled years, Helen Alexander; sister, Nancy Rinier; sons, Thomas Herbert Jr. and Jack Arthur and their spouses; daughters, Maribeth Miller and Pamela Marie Keller and their spouses; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Darby. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, OK, in 1944. He graduated from Tulsa University in 1950 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. His career spanned the world taking him and his family to Venezuela, Libya, Singapore, Indonesia, Nigeria and Abu Dhabi; but Tulsa was always his home. He was very social with many, many interests. In Venezuela he was the Volunteer Fire Chief in their community. In Libya he opened stables for the horses for which the Libyan Army no longer had use. In later years, after he and Helen had retired and were back in Tulsa, they volunteered their time at John 3:16 where they often took their grandchildren and great-grandchildren to help. Even with such an amazing life, he was unpretentious and felt he could learn something from everyone. Our father lived by the highest of standards (ethics) and never sacrificed his morals. We will miss him every day. His memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2005, at Floral Haven Cemetery, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave., 252-2518. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the American Red Cross.
