William Slepka Obituary

William George "Bill" Slepka Jr., 79, of Monkey Island, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Bill will be remembered for his boundless humor, infectious laugh, and the warmth he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born on March 20, 1946, in Oklahoma City, OK, Bill was the son of William George "Bill" Slepka, Sr. and Virginia Louise Atchison Slepka, the brother of Carole Kaye Javes and Robert Anton "Bob" Slepka (wife, Reni). A proud Oklahoma native, he attended the University of Oklahoma, where his great enthusiasm for OU football first took root, and later graduated from Central State University with a B.A. in Marketing in 1968. During his college years, he was an active member of Sigma Nu fraternity (loved the infamous Border Dance), forming lifelong friendships that carried through the decades.

Bill's professional journey was marked by excellence and integrity. A dynamic sales professional, he built a successful career with Dulaney's, RCA, and Whirlpool, consistently earning respect for his keen insight, dedication, and humor. He formed lifelong friendships and relationships in which colleagues and clients alike valued not only his business acumen but also his ability to make any meeting lighter with his quick, wicked wit.

A long-time resident of Tulsa, Bill found joy and peace at his beloved vacation homes on Monkey Island and Duck Creek at Grand Lake o' the Cherokees, where he served for several years as President of The Cliff's Homeowners Association. He was a devoted member of the Shangri-La Country Club, where he was proudly named Club Champion in 2003 and served as President of the Men's Golf Association. Fellow golfing members fondly dubbed him "Meeting Magnate" and "Telephone Tyrant," titles given with deep affection and respect for his leadership and gregarious spirit. He was exceptionally proud of his "Hole In One" award in 2007 on hole number 12, a distance of 175 yards with a 4 iron.

Bill married his favorite "chaos coordinator", Kaye, in Cozumel, Mexico, in 1986. Together, they shared a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, travel, and an ever-growing circle of friends. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Susan Slepka Anderson (husband Stephen), and son, Steven Joseph Slepka, from his first marriage to Mary Johnson France. They shared many warm memories-including the much-celebrated "Slepka Open" annual family golf tournament, the highly contested "Great Lake Debates", those irritating, yet loving, early morning "chats" with his daughter, and mini lake Olympics with family and friends.

Bill's passions were many: family, golf, golf, more golf, boating, classic rock and concerts, gardening-taking great pride in his prized tomatoes-and the companionship of dogs, especially his beloved Brittany Spaniel, Bailey. A grateful "Friend of Bill W.," he lived his life rooted in gratitude and humor, never missing a chance to loudly belt out a Beatles, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, or Rod Stewart tune, even if the words weren't quite right and he was completely off-key.

The family thanks the staff of Grand Lake Villa in Grove, OK and Good Shepherd Hospice for the compassionate, excellent care they gave Bill and the support and strength they gave to the family. The path was not without difficulty, and yet they found ways to make Bill comfortable and safe, and even elicited a smile sometimes. The family values all of them immeasurably.

A celebration of Bill's extraordinary life will be held at Shangri La in early 2026.

In his spirit, let us remember his guiding words: **One Day at a Time.** and ***Keep it Simple, Stupid***.
