Clyde Henderson Phillips Sr.

RALPH Clyde Henderson Phillips, Sr., died April 26, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Clyde was born in Knoxville, Alabama, and lived most of his life in Ralph. During his career, he worked at Reico Chemical, Ford Motor Company in Atlanta, and retired from BF Goodrich after 26 years of service. The Phillips family for many generations has been members of Bethel Baptist Church in Ralph, where Clyde served as deacon and on many committees during his life. The church, his love of Jesus Christ, his family, farming, hunting and spending time in the outdoors was Clyde's passions.

Mr. Phillips was born the youngest of nine children to Abner (AR) and Sallie Henderson Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Pate Phillips, a son, Clyde, Jr., (Margaret) of Northport; and twin daughters, Sharon Semancik (Frank) of Los Angeles, and Karen Tidwell (Dan) of Tuscaloosa. Also grieving the loss of their grandfather are Hunter Phillips (Jessica), Andrew Phillips, Sam Phillips, Meghan Semancik, Mathew Semancik, Adrienne Tidwell Remmert (Luke), Lauren Tidwell, and Anna Catherine Tidwell. The Phillips has two great-grandchildren, William Remmert and Rhett Phillips.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church and all the caregivers during Clyde's illness.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Wyatt Rhone and Dr. Levy Corey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Cemetery Fund.
