Dwight Templeton Obituary

ELROD Dwight "Elrod" Templeton, age 61, of Elrod, died Oct. 16, 2006 at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Douglas Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in Elrod Baptist Church Community Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home.

He was a lifelong resident of Elrod and was a member of the Elrod Baptist Church. He was a very loving father, Papa and friend. He served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a retired cabinetmaker from Templeton Woodworks. He had a great love for fishing and hunting. Dwight had a great love for country and gospel music. He was a gifted musician and singer and was well known by many professionals as well as aspiring musicians.

Elrod will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He was God's special gift to earth and will now be Heaven's reward.

Survivors include one daughter, Deanna Wise Templeton of Tuscaloosa; son, Glen Templeton of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchild, Peyton Templeton of Tuscaloosa; three sisters, Betty Aultman, Jane Voss of Biloxi, Miss. and Shirley (Dean) Harris of Elrod; one brother, Charles Templeton Buford of Panama City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dwain Templeton, Randy Harris, Mark Watson, Leland Sellers, Danny Marchant and Drew Templeton.

Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Elrod and Holman communities.
