George Edward Stines

NORTHPORT George Edward Stines, age 75, of Northport, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Boone Cemetery with Norwood Chapel Funeral Home in Fayette directing. Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Stines was born in Walker County and lived most of his life in the Brownville community in Tuscaloosa County. He formerly lived in Fayette for 10 years. He retired from the Brown Wood Preserving Company.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Baines of Northport, Shelia Courington of Northport, and Brenda Dunn (Johnny) of Samantha; grandchildren, Scott Connell (Crystal), Kevin Dunn (Carolyn), Gina Condra, Christy Hanlin, all of Northport; and Kim Willcutt (Jeremy) of Northport; great-grandchildren, Morgan Connell, Hannah Condra, Landon Connell, Mason Connell, Peyton Hanlin, Jaci Hanlin, Macy Dunn, and Cooper Jones, all of Northport; two sisters, Sue Farley of Fultondale and Cherry Bigham of Northport; and one brother, Dan Earl Stines of Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Dunn, Kevin Dunn, Scott Connell, Leon Stines, Hart Sines, and Jeff Lancaster.

Honorary Pallbearers are DCH Cancer Center nurses and staff, Dr. John Dubay and Hospice of West Alabama.
