Jeremy Nunley Obituary

TUSCALOOSA – Jeremy Nunley, age 46, of Tuscaloosa, died February 5, 2018, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Kenneth A. Dunivant officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2018, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., at the church.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Emmett and Ruby Carrick; paternal grandparents, L. B. and Iva Lee Nunley; and father-in-law, Russell Watson.
Survivors include his wife, Marti Watson Nunley of Tuscaloosa; daughters, Karsyn Mackenzie Nunley and Raegan Blake Nunley; parents, Jody and Edith Nunley of Winchester, Tenn.; sister, Mona Beth Montoya (Mark) of Winchester, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Bert Watson (Terri) of Chester, Va.; sister-in-law, Jill Hamilton (Tom) of Greensboro, N. C.; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. John Wayne Bishop of Chester, Va.
Jeremy was born September 19, 1971, in Tullahoma, Tenn., and loved hunting, fishing and outdoor sports. He attended Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tenn., where he was voted Mr. Rebel, excelled in sports and academics, and was inducted into the Franklin County Football Hall of Fame.
Jeremy was highly recruited by many SEC schools, but his heart landed in Tuscaloosa. While a student-athlete at the University of Alabama, he met the love of his life -- a cute, little championship gymnast, Marti Watson. Marti and Jeremy were married in May 1995 and began their life and family together.
Jeremy was invited to play in the 1994 Senior Bowl and was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the second round. He played in the NFL for three years and later returned to Tuscaloosa where he and his family have resided since 2001.
Both of Jeremy's daughters followed in their parents' footsteps and love of the Crimson Tide and are currently attending UA.
Honorary pallbearers are Craig Harris, Spencer Burchfield, Donald Kibby, Josh Brown, Mark Montoye, Bragg Rockwell, Alabama football teammates and Coppertop Happy Hour gang.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Kevin Turner Foundation, The Jimmie Hale Mission or The Jeremy Nunley Family Fund Bank at Bank of Tuscaloosa/Synovus – Attention: Kristi Kamplain.

Edith & Jody,
Our family is so very sad to hear of losing Jeremy. Knowing him as a kid growing up in Winchester, Tennessee we have many good memories of pee-wee football and baseball games with Jeremy & Gil playing ball together and Jody & Lynn coaching them. Good, happy, precious times. As parents you and Jody gave him the kind of all-American childhood everybody wants to give our children. He was a fine young man. We loved watching his success in sports and in life. Jenny remembers how considerate he was to her when they were at Alabama when they saw each other on campus. Always the big hearted, fun Jeremy. He was a bright spot in a lot of lives. Our love to you and to his wife and daughters.
