John Baggett Obituary

TUSCALOOSA John Paul Baggett, age 74, of Tuscaloosa, died Aug. 25, 2008, at Capstone Village. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Gilgal Baptist Church with Bro. Bart Latner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Johnnie Baggett, and his brothers, Jim and Bill Baggett.

Survivors include his former wife and mother of his two sons, Mary Lynn Baggett; his sons, Paul Baggett (Lori) and Mark Baggett (Kimberly); his sisters, Virginia Kok and Dean Peniche; his brothers, Tom (Barbara), Wally (Regina), Bob, Frank (June), and Ralph (Dolly) Baggett; and his grandchildren, Taylor, Sumner, and Lauren Baggett, and Brandi Williams.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., a retired social worker from the VA Hospital, and a UT graduate. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a member of Indian Lake Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers are Perry Baggett, Gene Bardwell, Keith Blalock, Mary Hunter, David Justice, Phyllis Plugge, Bob Quinnelly, and the staff and residents of Capstone Village.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the following: American Stroke Foundation, Gilgal Baptist Building Fund, or to Capstone Village Retirement Community.
