Laurice Rotenberry Obituary

BROOKWOOD Laurice Rotenberry, age 66, of Brookwood, died Aug. 28, 2008, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Piney Woods Baptist Church, Hwy. 69 in Northport, with Bro. David Shelnutt officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Woods Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Rotenberry, her sweet daughter, Tina Lynn Way, her mother and father, Lottie and Lee Acker, her sisters, Fronia Goodman and Doris Jones, and her mother and father-in-law, Ozella and Grady Rotenberry.

Survivors include her daughters, Wendy Rotenberry of Brookwood, Kim Montgomery (Scott) of Samantha, and Susan Lea Smith (Eugene) of Northside; her brothers, Robert Lee Acker, Jr. (Sandra) and David Acker (Virginia); her sisters, Evelyn McDaniel (William), Bea Ward, Sarah Hemphill, and Jean Crawford (David); six grandchildren, Josh Smith (Samantha), Amber Rotenberry, Jessie Smith, Tiffany Way, Mary Montgomery, and Laurianne Montgomery; one great grandchild on the way, "Little Duckie"; her sister-in-law, Linda Pate; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very excited to be expecting her first great grandchild. She was all about family and dearly loved her brothers and sisters. She was a friend to anyone she met and "Maw Maw" to all her grandkids' friends. We love her and will miss her dearly.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Acker, Kelvin Goodman, Buddy McDaniel, Frank Pate, Steve Sparks, Jay Pate, Calvin Goodman, and Steve Pate.

Honorary pallbearers are Ralph and Pauline Hagood, ARC Inc., Steve and Mary Cappock (Zeuss), doctors, nurses, and staff of DCH Regional Medical Center 1st and 2nd Floor ICU, Long Term Hospital of Tuscaloosa, school bus drivers for Northside, Roger and Cassandra O'Bryant, Wendy O'Bryant, and the Brookwood, Northside, and Samantha communities.
