Mildred Brewer Obituary

TUSCALOOSA | Mildred Elora Brewer, age 97, of Tuscaloosa, died March 7, 2016. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Hill and Rev. Jimmy Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be from 1- 3 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 wonderful years, Jerry Brewer; her mother and father, Laurene and Burton Beck; child, William Brewer; grandchildren, Charley Ballard, Wendy and Christy Brewer, Charlson and Kyndall Brewer; great grandchildren, Gabriel Morrison; sisters, Viola Yaw (Bobby) and Mary Howard (Roscoe); brother, Thomas Beck; daughter in laws, Pam Brewer and Sue Brewer.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jones (Zane); sons, Jerry Brewer (Aletta) and Paul Brewer; sister, Martha Skelton; brothers, Charles Beck and Richard Beck (Mary); grandchildren, Lydia Fields (Danny), Amanda Ballard, Deanna Morrison (Brett), Heather Stephens (Joey), Amanda Beardsley (Noah), Ashlynn Brewer; great-grandchildren, Trae Ballard (Rebecca), Meagan and Macy Fields, Collin, Evan, Eli, Ali Beth and Julie Morrison, Carolina and Kate Beardsley; a number of step grandchildren; and special friends, Charles and Carol Ballard.
Mildred Brewer better known by those who loved her as Granny retired from Tuscaloosa City High School lunch room. She was very active in raising three wonderful children a number of grandchildren and great grands. She also helped raise several of her brothers and sisters. She was a lifelong member of Woodland Park Baptist Church. The Church was not only special to her because of her love for the Lord, but because her husband Jerry built the church.
Her family was her life and she never missed a opportunity for a family gathering. She loved to work in the garden and enjoyed this into her late 80's. Granny was a wonderful, devoted mother, sister, aunt and grandparent and we will all miss her dearly.
Pallbearers are Trae Ballard, Collin Morrison, Evan Morrison, Andy and Richard Beck, Charles Beck Jr., James Howard, Bobby Yaw, Jr. and Glen Averette.
Honorary pallbearers will be Reston Construction Employees, Sealy Realty, DCH Employees, Dollar General Employees, Tuscaloosa Dental Arts, Tuscaloosa County High Schools, Alagasco, Alabama One Credit Union, Skyland Boulevard Baptist Church and Crestline Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to members of Skyland Boulevard Baptist Church, Crestline Baptist Church and the Gideon's.

Granny was one of the best people I have ever known. I will always treasure the time I spent with her.....our trip to Canada as roommates left me with so many wobderful memories. I will always love and treaure Granny.
