Norma Faye Sherrer Neel

TUSCALOOSA Norma Faye Sherrer Neel, age 75, of Tuscaloosa, died Dec. 19, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Herb Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred A. and Kathleen Self Sherrer; and brother, Fred A. Sherrer.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carl Darrell Neel; daughters, Kathryn Neel of Leominster, Mass. and M. Kimberly Neel Rodenburg (Robert) of Hagerstown, Md.; son, C. Douglas Neel of Tuscaloosa; sister, Martha Clowdus (Russell) of Lampasas, Texas; and grandchildren, Kathryn M. and C. Alexander Rodenburg.

Mrs. Neel was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Buhl. She graduated from Holt High School and Carraway Methodist Medical Center Hospital RN Program in Birmingham. She worked at Partlow and hospitals in the Orlando, Fla. area before retiring in Tuscaloosa in 1990.

Pallbearers will be Robert Rodenburg, Larry Chestnut, Dell Crosby, Hoyt Hester, Russell Clowdus, and Javier Moreno.

Honorary pallbearers are the pastor's Sunday School class and Fishers of Men Sunday School class at Circlewood Baptist Church, J.L. and Melba Hallman, Paul and Shirley Barton, Jerry Guy, Clifford and Jane Shults, and staff at Forest Manor Nursing Home Station Two.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Circlewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 2201 Loop Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35405 or the Arc of Tuscaloosa, 1330 University Blvd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
