William Richard Odom Sr.

EUTAW William Richard Odom, Sr., age 78, of Eutaw, died June 10, 2009, at Greene County Hospital in Eutaw. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Eutaw Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Williams and Rev. John Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing. The family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years, Elsie Taylor Odom of Eutaw; one daughter, Theresa (Lee) Ballard of Eutaw; two sons, William R. "Dickie" (Brenda) Odom and Mark Anthony (Linda) Odom, all of Eutaw; nine grandchildren, Tina Odom (Rodney) Cork, Wendy Odom (Michael) Jernigan, Mark (Haley) Odom, Jr., John F. (Nikki) Bishop, IV, Richard Odom (Ashley) Bishop, Justin L. Ballard, Wesley E. Ballard, Laura Haywood Harris, and Lindsey Haywood; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Lourice (Eddie) Fuente of Madison, Miss.; two brothers, Donald (Sharon) Odom of Aquilla and Clint (Jackie) Odom of Marietta, La.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John H. Bishop, IV, Richard Odom Bishop, Mark Odom, Jr., Justin Ballard, Wesley Ballard, Rodney Cork, and Neil Gay.

Mr. Odom formerly served on the Board of Directors for Tri County Co-Op and he was very influential in helping the catfish industry. Mr. Odom was manager of Johnson Chevrolet in Mobile and was affiliated with General Motors. He was former owner of Odom Chevrolet in Eutaw for forty-two years and co-owner of Odom Industries.
