My deepest sympathy to the family of Algene, a wonderful spirit. As a member of Writers Unlimited, I was impressed by her humor, insight, writing, and ability to critiqe the writing of others. We often talked at lunch. I admired her philosophical reflections, curiosity, and open mind.

Her contributions have been many. I miss her and can only imagine the huge loss it is for you.

Algene has been and will be greatly by Writers Unlimited, our bimonthy writers group that she has belonged to for a number of years. Her insightful critiques of our work challenged us to make our writing better and better. Her own writing inspired us to keep on keeping on. Thornton Wilder wrote: "All that we can know about those we have loved and lost is that they would wish us to remember them with a more intensified realization of their reality. What is essential does not die but clarifies. The highest tribute to the dead is not grief, but gratitude." I mourn Algene's death, but with a truly grateful heart for having known her. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her loved ones, during this difficult time.
