Anthony BALDWIN Obituary

Passed away peacefully on December 6th, 2020, in the home he had built and lived in since 1978. An Apple Valley resident of over 50 years, he proudly raised and unconditionally supported a wildly loving family alongside his wife, Glenda Guthrie Baldwin. A fun-seeking fraternity brother and one-time Treasurer of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house, freshman basketball player and graduate of The University of Arizona (Class of '62), he went on to serve as a Naval Officer before retiring as a Northwest Airlines pilot after 32 years of dedicated flying. An avid golfer in his prime and his poker skills helped put him through college. His poker buddies would call him a gentle giant, and until the end he would never miss a game at the Days Inn over pizza and Sprite. To know him is to love him, whether you were the cashier at Kwik Trip or one of the many athletes he coached throughout the years. His stories were unmatched, along with his kindness and dry sense of humor. We will be forever missing him in person, while always knowing he undoubtedly lives on through our memories and in our hearts. The family asks that you share photos, stories and/or respects on the guestbook. A memorial golf tournament is being planned for his birthday weekend in the spring (May 2021), in hopes that Crystal Lake Golf Course will host. Tony, Papa, Dad, Mr. B, Ambassador, Coach, Husband, Brother, Uncle, Friend… you are truly one of a kind. The daily Sports section is saved for you, over a cup of black coffee… until we meet again. Tony, old buddy, I'll miss you. I remember playing golf with you, Ray Featherstone and Ron Cahoon, when the snow had melted on the greens but the mosquitos had already screwed up my puts. Also skiing with you.

Dear Baldwin family,
I have such fond memories of our families spending time together in the 70s. I remember Tony as being a warm and loving dad, approachable and funny. I know my dad respected him as a pilot and treasured him as a friend. Here are a couple of recently digitized slides that I thought were particularly sweet. With love, Annie

I was the First Officer on Tony's first trip as a Captain. We were all 3 (pilots) brand new to our positions. It was a fun trip, and Tony did a great job under some pretty challenging weather conditions! In sympathy to his family! Captain Danny Roberson (retired 2020 Delta Airlines, and former Northwest Airlines).

My family grew up with the Baldwin's. He was a great guy and was always smiling. Took good care of all us girls. I will always remember the rides in the blue beetle bug. Letting us pretend drive. He will be missed. Love to you all

RIP Tony,, a friend and neighbor who brings back so many enjoyable memories from our lives in Apple Valley and out flying the line. What a fine puppy you raised there named 'old Blue' who kept us all entertained at all times. Our boating trips on the St Croix were always a joyful afternoon. You will be missed.. Flying with Tony was always a blast. We had a lot of laughs in the cockpit and on the golf course. I was blessed to be his friend.

Tony Baldwin...what a great person to have as an Sales Associate in the fencing dept at Sears St. Paul when Northwest Airlines was on strike. Tony's lived life daily with the same positive refreshing attitude. I truly enjoyed working with Tony!
