Arnold RHOLL Obituary
Age 90 Died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN. He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Lois (Hermanson) Rholl; sons, Mark (Carol) Rholl, Kenneth (Paula Neumann) Rholl, and James (Vicky) Rholl; daughter, Patsy (Bruce) Bohnen; sisters, Borg Gabrielson and Connie Wagoner; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Oline Rholl, and his brothers, Art and Gordon Rholl. Arnold was born June 11, 1925, the son of a Lutheran minister, and grew up in small towns in the midwest. He attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He married Lois Hermanson on May 1, 1949. They spent the early years of their marriage in Honolulu, Hawaii where Arnold was a general medical officer in the Navy. Upon returning to Minneapolis in 1954, Arnold finished a residency in radiology and joined the Department of Radiology at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis (later The Metropolitan Medical Center). He retired from his practice in 1984. He remained a resident of the Twin Cities in retirement, most recently residing at Waverly Gardens Retirement Community in North Oaks, MN. Arnold will be remembered as a dedicated physician, a man who loved nothing more than a family gathering or running into an old friend, and a man who was very proud of his Norwegian roots. He was enthusiastic and passionate about his causes and held himself to the highest ethical standards. Yet Arnold was playful and active. He spent many summers up at Woman Lake and winters in Sun City, AZ with his siblings and friends. He was a competitive game player. He skied into his 70's, played tennis and pickleball into his 80's, and biked at 90. He had a good run. A memorial service will be held at 2pm at Waverly Gardens Retirement Community in North Oaks, MN on Thursday, June 23, 2016. Memorials can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
