My daughter has worked for St. Paul police Dispatch for many years, that's how I 1st met Benny. I also at the time had worked for the City. When I was sick about 18 yrs ago, he would always inquire about me, and ask how I was doing, He was the kindest man,and loved by many. When my daughter told me the news it truly saddened me. RIP Benny,,my heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family

Dear Williams Family, my sincere sympathies for the loss of Benny. I went with him on a St Paul police ride-along in 1997. It was an amazing experience; I'll never forget the house covered with shoes that he showed me. I saw things I never thought I would and learned so much about the city. Through it all, he was friendly, congenial and always concerned about my safety. That was an experience I'll always remember. It helps me understand your sorrow and pain. God Bless you; wishing you peace in the coming difficult days.

Benny was such a kind and gentle soul. A smile that would light up a room! I enjoyed working with him and I always appreciated his outlook on being a police officer. I send my condolences to Officer Williams and his family. The community will always remember your kindness and you as an excellent role model for everyone you came in contact with.
I remember you as a high school student and was so proud to see you as an Officer.
You left us all too soon. I hope a street is named in your honor so you will be remembered always. Your extraordinary people skills were a gift to us all. We will never forget you, Officer Benny Williams.

Benny was a special person in my life. We shared many memories over the 25 years of our friendship. I will always remember his protective disposition, silly sense of humor, his intensity, and the way he said my name when he would call. I have relived many memories in my mind since getting the horrific news Tuesday, and I'm still in a fog of disbelief. He was certainly extraordinary; kind, loving, thoughtful and had an extremely conscientious spirit. He loved the community in which he grew up and worked, and every single person in his family was important to him. I don't remember being anywhere with him where someone wasn't going out out of their way to greet him with a smile. He brought joy to so many.
His mother became my special friend and she was always so very proud of him. He showed her so much love it was so admirable.
I am grateful he was in my life all these years; there will never-ever be another man quite like him. Rest in Heaven sweet soul, I will never forget you. And thank you so much for all of your lessons and love. You were truly a blessing in my life.

Krystle and family. This is Lil Gerber's son Chuck. I loved Benny as did my wife Anne and Mom. He was always smiling and such a positive person who always made you feel special and important. Words cannot explain the sadness I feel for your loss. Benny will always be remembers as being that one true spirit of life from the Hague avenue gang growing up. In adulthood, he always had nothing but friendly, wise things to say when I ran into him. He loved my Mom and Dad and our family like we were indeed family. Rest in peace Benny!
