Chester Schoenrock Obituary

Age 84 Of Oakdale Left this world to join his Lord and heavenly family on November 11, 2010. This earth lost a kind, hard working, generous, fun-loving man. We thought he was the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was our strength, our hero and we loved him so much. We will miss him but he remains with us as part of who we have become. Proud 3rd generation owner of William Schoenrock & Sons Monument Company. Preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Kathryn; brother, Raymond, Jr.; and son-in-law, Noel Misgen. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Ann; children, Diane Misgen, Sandy (Greg) Capra, Joelann (Terry "T") Strehlo, Robert (Cindy) and Tammy Kluge; brother, William; in-laws, Fran & Marlene Blatzheim, Nick & Colleen, John & Jean, Barb, and Evie Charles. Grandpa Chester will be lovinglyremembered by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way), as the big guy that teased them, made them giggle and always gave them a bear hug and a couple of dollars. He will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. He was active in many community groups including the Masonic Triune Lodge, Osman Temple Shriners, North End Business Association and Roseville Lions Club. He was selected Tittan, Prince of the North Wind and also served on the board of directors of the St. Paul Winter Carnival. He was the recipient of the Sal Lobaido Volunteer Service Award, served as Grand Marshall of the Rice Street Festival and was a member of Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church. Chester was a Navy veteran serving during WWII on the USS West Virginia. Service Monday, 11A.M. at GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1669 Arcade Street North, Saint Paul. Entombment Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation Sunday (TODAY), 3-7 P.M. at BRADSHAW, 4600 Greenhaven Drive at Highway 96 (one mile west of 35E), White Bear and also one hour prior to the service at church. We are so grateful for all the life lessons you taught us. Thanks Dad! We all love you! 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear 651-407-8300

To the Schoenrock family,
Please know that Chester was a wonderful and caring person. On the November day in 2004 when my wife and I had to choose the marker that would mark the final resting place for our son, Chester was there. He knew how difficult this time was for us and he guided us though the process with kindness and care. Our family has been coming to him and your family for many years for those final markers.
He will be missed by many and was loved.
Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers as November days bring us to Thanksgiving. We are thankful to have known Chester.

While growing up with Chester's grand kids Wayne and Carrie, and spending much of my life in the company of the Misgen family, I've had the privilege of coming to know both Chester and Ann through the years. Whether it was crashing at their house when Wayne and I would venture off the the cites, or just stopping in when we were down there for something or another, they always had their door open for us and were the absolute kindest people you could ever meet. Years ago I had the honor of spending a Thanksgiving with the Schoenrock family and it was clearly obvious that the kindness, and generosity Chester and Ann always had, carried it's way down throughout the generations. I have one vivid memory of an email Wayne had sent me a few months back that was a newspaper article of how Chester had donated some grave markers to a Hmong family and how proud Wayne was of his grandpa. I think that that right there says it all of who Chester was. He was a kind, honest, generous, hard working man who loved his family, and always greeted you with a smile. Thanks to Chester, Thanks to Ann, And Thanks to Noel and Diane, I have two of the best friends one could ever ask for. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Ann & Family, You will always have Chester in your thoughts. The first days will be very hard, but they will ease with each day as you remember things he did, said, and times you spent together. You will find yourself smiling soon with these memories.God Bless you all.

I only met Chester twice. The first time was three years ago next Saturday. My mom had just died and my Dad thought very highly of your husband, Dad, Grandpa etc. and he wanted to order my mom's headstone in person from Chester. Chester was very kind to us. He told us that the stone wouldn't be able to be put in until spring. My Dad was bothered by this because he said he wouldn't be around in the spring. Your Dad had a picture printed up of what it would look like. That comforted my Dad. He went home to be with the Lord 4 months later. My Dad said that your Dad was a prince of a guy.

I have been thankful to have had Grandpa Chester in my life for so long. He was a shining example of how so many aspire to live our lives; with much love, generosity, commitment, care, and laughter. He always told all of us in our family how proud of us he was. I feel humbled by that statement and truly see him as the one we are all proud of.....miss you and love you Grandpa. Carrie Ann
