Daniel Andretta Obituary

Andretta, Daniel B. Caribou, ME & Inver Grove Heights, MN Daniel B. Andretta, 30, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 27th, 2007. He was born April 26, 1977 in Edina, Minnesota, the son of Tony and Lori (Rikala) Andretta. A graduate of The University of Minnesota at Duluth with a BS in Biology, Dan was employed as an Agricultural Specialist for the Department of Homeland Security in the Customs Border Protection Unit, stationed in Van Buren, ME. Dan lived with a quiet but intense passion for life and love that brought profound joy to all that he experienced and to those he knew and loved. An active runner, Dan always ran with son Isaac tucked into his jog stroller, not just for the extra resistance training, but because everything was more enjoyable when he shared it with his wife and children. Dan was also an active downhill skier and first learned to cross-country ski upon moving to Northern Maine. He attended the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church and mentored teens as a member of the church youth staff, where young people took to him immediately because of his sincere interest in others, easy manner and genuine kindness. Dan's first priority was his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dan passionately loved his wife and children and enthusiastically embraced his roles as a devoted husband and loving father, spending his free time sharing his love of reading with his son on their "library Saturdays", cooking meals for his wife and friends, inspired by secret Andretta family recipes from his Nonna, helping friends with various construction projects, or just strolling the neighborhood with the family, stopping in to check in with friends. Dan was widely admired as a man of great humility and quiet composure, top quality integrity and character, and was a devoted servant of the Lord and his family; he will be sorrowfully missed by all who had the privilege to know him. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Juris) Andretta and two sons Isaac Daniel and Tyler James Andretta of Caribou, his parents and one brother, Tony Andretta II, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, maternal grandmother, Laina Rikala, and paternal grandmother, Luisa Andretta. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Camillo Andretta, and maternal grandfather, Bernard Rikala. Friends may call from 7-9PM Friday November 30, 2007 at the LANCASTER-MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 11 Clover St, Caribou. Funeral services will be conducted 11AM Saturday at the PRESQUE ISLE WESLEYAN CHURCH with visitation from 9am until time of service. Committal services will take place in the spring. Arrangements in care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at: www.lancastermorgan.com

I graduated with Dan and was saddened to hear about passing. I'll remember Dan as someone who was laid back and very easy to get along with. He had a knack for making people laugh and that is something that I'll never forget.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his parents, his wife, his two little boys, and the rest of his family during this difficult time.

Dan and I were coworkers in a lab in 2002 at the University of Minnesota. It didn't take long for me to figure out he was a terrific guy...spirited, friendly, funny, and very sharp. He came in with a smile on his face every day and it was a pleasure to have known him. I was truly saddened by the news of his passing and extend my deepest condolences to his family. God bless-

Tony & Lori Andretta,
The GREATEST NEIGHOR'S in the world!!!
We were Deeply Saddened to hear
about the Loss of your Son. We want you both to know we are here to Help in your Difficult time.
Accept our Sympathy and Prayers

Please remember God has not promised skies always blue, flower-strew pathways all our lives through;
God has not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain,
But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love.

" GOD SPEED DAN "

I was devestaed to hear the news of Dan's death this week. He was such a great man and he has touched the lives of so many people. My brother has been one of his closest friends for years and respected and cared so deeply for him and his family. My thoughts and prayers go out to Laurie, Tony, Tony, Liz, his children and to all that have been blessed to have him as a part of thier lives. I am not sure why God chose to take such a wonderful man so early, but I know he is in heaven looking down on everyone that he has left behind. He will truly be missed.
