Left on August 21, 2020 for an extended tour with his Higher Power. He had an RV from 2003-2007, and this latest venture doubtless appealed to his love of travel and adventure. David taught in the St. Paul Public Schools from 1976 to 2003; he was the creator of Hands On Work (HOW), a program that taught job skills, woodworking, canoe-building, etc. David was a marvelous teacher because he was dyslexic, and had instant sympathy and bonding for any youngster who struggled to learn. He worked for the Pullman schools as an educational assistant for students who had learning problems. He also was a disc jockey for the David Jerusalem Show on KRFP. If you were innocently walking downtown in Moscow, David probably stopped you and begged you to be on his program and talk about your life and living. He loved music and would invite anyone who sang, played an instrument, or owned a kazoo. David loved eating, walking, talking and listening. He loved dogs—Loki, Sunny, Benji and Katie. He loved travel, loved his boat, his RV, and lusted ceaselessly for a convertible. David was married to Jan in 1983, after an extended live in courtship (1976). Their son, Todd, daughter in law Charlie, the grandchildren Charlotte, Thomas and Millie, live in Oxford, England. David's sister Cheryl lives in Coeur d'Alene, as does David's mom, Billee. Nephews Tristan, Cullen and Owen complete the family. David leaves behind a host of KRFP listeners, many friends of Bill, and a 42 year medallion. Memorials are suggested to the Moscow Food Bank, KRFP, or the Latah Recovery Center. Arrangements were entrusted to Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow. www.shortsfuneralchapel.com

Mr. Jerusalem was serious about his wood shop, no doubt. He kicked me out of his class for mouthing off to him; but did give me 2nd chance. I went on to become one his best silk screeners :) I also have fond memories of his woodshop class and am glad I was one of his many students.

I remember fondly the gifts David gave me made by his students in the HOW program at Monroe Community School. I still have those gifts -- and memories of our many thoughtful conversations.

Mr. Jerusalem was such a wonderful teacher. He loved his work and especially loved creating beautiful woodwork projects with his students. I still have baskets designed and built by his students. He had a big voice and an everlasting smile. His shop was not only a shop, but a small business community. Students learned how to buy wood products and supplies, learned math skills, business skills, developed skills of marketing/selling their products as fundraisers which required skills of public speaking and community involvement. There wasn't a family at Monroe that did not know about student-made baskets from Mr. Jerusalem's class! I know he is peacefully resting in heaven and smiling down on us with pride. My condolences to his family, friends and all the students who were fortunate enough to have been in his classes!

One of the best teachers at Monroe. Always excited to get to woodshop class. I might even have one of my projects laying around my mom's house still. My condolences to Mr. Jerusalem's family.

He was a great teacher. I only had his class or 1 year, but in that time he showed me how much I love the business side of the baskets and kits we sold. He will be missed

Mr. Jerusalem was my favorite teacher at Monroe. He encouraged my love of woodworking and allowed me to help him over the summer with the different kits he used to make and sell.

He was a great teacher at Monroe. He took his time with his students to help them learn. We made great pieces that I still have. He always included everyone in the projects.

David was am amazing instructor and mentor to our daughter who had a learning disability.
He taught her not to focus on her disability, but to focus o what she did well.
He was an amazing influence on her and we, The Mergens family want to extend our thanks to David for his love of rhe students and his ability to see their possibilities.
May he rest in peace

David was a dear friend and colleague when we worked together at Monroe Community School from 1995-2003. I will miss his sunny smile and the hard work he did with students.
