David Weber Obituary

Weber - David age 31, of St. Paul, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2002 after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. Survived by his beloved and beautiful wife, Denise; parents, Richard and Diane of Wausau, WI; Jim and Sharon Ridgeway of Monticello, MN; brother Dan (Andi) Weber; sister, Suzy; his best friends and family, Christian and Jennifer Sirek, Kent and Cynthia Johnson, Nick and Jennifer Ridgeway; nieces and nephews; and of course his beloved hunting companion-Bear. Each day of Dave's life was lived to its fullest extent as an avid athlete who enjoyed running, kayaking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and hunting. For over 10 winters he taught skiing and snowboarding with Ski Jammers; it didn't take him long to receive the 'Instructor of the Year' award. He also shared his great water-skiing abilities as an active member of the Minocqua Bats & for friends and family on Blue Lake. As a successful graduate of the University of St. Thomas and dedicated worker as a buyer for Target Corporation, Dave left behind innumerable friends and colleagues who admired his genuine character, willingness to help others, and his selfless giving spirit. It's unquestionable that each person Dave knew added something special to his life. Mass of Christian Burial 1PM Thursday May 9th at NATIVITY OF OUR LORD CATHOLIC CHURCH (324 S. Prior Ave. at Stanford, St. Paul) followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Arr. O'HALLORAN & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 651-698-0796.

Dear Dick, Diane and Family:

We are all saddened by David's death and, like you, wonder "Why?" It seems like such a cruel test of our faith to endure the pain of the loss of a child. Though God never gives us more than we can handle, this comes heart-achingly close to the edge. We love you and pray for you daily.

Dear Weber's,

Dave was an incredible guy. Though I primarily knew him during those carefree Min-Aqua Bat days, it's clear that his charisma stretched across the lake and beyond. Please accept our most heartfelt sympathy.

Dear Denise, Webers and Ridgeways,

I am sorry for your loss. I have not seen David since UST but always remember him as having a great deal of integrity when dealing with challenging situations.

Also, it sounds as if he had as much fun after college as he did in it. It also sounds like he was as generous with his spirit post- college.

We are all better for having known him.

To Denise, my Uncle Dick and Aunt Diane, cousin Suzy and Dan and Bear:

Dave will always be remembered with a cheery smile and the way his presence would brighten the room. He was a cousin I was always very proud of. He will be forever watching over us in heaven with his bright smile shining as sunlight.

A poem (author unknown):

"Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle Autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand by my grave and cry, I am not there I did not die."

Dave will be sadly missed.
