Debra Peterson Obituary

Bloomington, Minnesota Born July 1, 1951 To Lester and Lillian Lindstrom and ended her journey on earth January 5 when she joined her parents and sister, Leslie Johnson, in everlasting life with our Lord. Debbie married Rev. Philip Peterson on January 10, 1986. She was blessed with two loving children, Thomas Benbow and Cate Quinteros, and two happy and energetic grandchildren. Debbie was an extraordinarily generous wife, (grand)mother, sister and friend, giving selflessly to those she loved. She loved life, her family, friends, entertaining, reading, gardening, music and a good glass of wine. She will be intensely missed, but she left the world a better place because of her remarkable love of life and her deep and abiding faith. She was a member of both Faith Lutheran Church, where she mentored confirmation students and directed the youth and holiday choirs, and Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, where she served as a choir member and "Queen" of the Property Committee, as well as many other roles in both congregations. Survived by loving husband, Philip Peterson; children, Thomas Benbow (Ashley Siegel) and Cate (Patrick) Quinteros; brother, Gary (Sandi) Lindstrom; sister Jody (John) Hughes; grandchildren, Mina and Parker Quinteros; mother-in-law, Viola Peterson; and too many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends to mention. Memorials preferred to Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, Minneapolis; Faith Lutheran Church, Forest Lake; N.C. Little Hospice, Edina; and www.CaringBridge.org. Memorial service Saturday, January 9, 11a.m. at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, 5760 Portland Ave., Minneapolis, Minnesota. Washburn-McReavy. 952-920-3996

Our thoughts and prayers for Phil and for the Faith and Diamond Lake communities with Deb now carried in the arms of the Lord. Her contribution and impact were enormous, and God's work is that much more complete at Deb's music, gusto, hospitality and gifts always offered to serve.
Ps. 121: 7, 8

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go..others stay for a while and leave footprints on our heart, and we are never, ever the same." This was Deb, and we will never forget all the marvelous work she did for Faith and the youth of the church. Phil's wonderful family antidotes in sermons gave us a glimpse of the joy shared in life. Our prayers, love and deepest sympathy to Phil and this wonderful family.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To Phil and Family we offer our deepest sympathy in this time of loss. Though a life has been lost here on earth, God has gathered another beautiful soul to his flock in heaven. Hearts will be heavy but the one thing that can never be taken away are the memories of Debbie. We all know the saddness that comes with the loss of a loved one but we also know the celebration that Debbie is going through as she meets her Savior, she is the fortunate one for now she lives without pain or suffering. Our prayers go out to the family as we celebrate the life of Debbie and all the people she touched.
