Donald GEHRMAN Obituary

ATTN: IBEW Local #110 Don Gehrman, age 82, of Oakdale, formerly of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side, on Sunday, January 20, 2019 following a courageous battle with COPD. Born June 26, 1936 to Charles and Gertrude Gehrman. Don leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Mary (nee Gunther) (Dorrain); children, Pam Ford (Jeff Radke), Scott (Ann), Mike (Bart Clifton), Dan (Joan) Dorrain, Ann (Scott) Johnson and Carol (Sean) Rage; and sisters, Joyce Hall, Kay (David) Buck and Dianne Hannan. He was a proud grandpa to 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Don graduated in 1954 from Wilson High School in St. Paul where he excelled in sports, lettering in hockey, baseball and football. Following in his father's footsteps, Don became an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 110 for 50 years. He worked for numerous contractors in the Twin Cities, and eventually started his own business, Town and Shores Electric Co. which was based out of northern Minnesota. Don's favorite place was their cabin on Washburn Lake in Outing, MN where he and Mary loved spending time with family and friends for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, golf and travel, and was a great fan of all Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins and Vikings. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Memorial service 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 29 at ST. ANDREW'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi. Visitation at the church from 9-11 AM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Dear Mary, and all of his family,
Don was a good man, a great friend, we so very much enjoyed all the great times we spent together over the years. We loved his joke telling, his grin, he was sincere. We will miss him deeply.
Bill and I send our deepest Sympathy to you, Mary, and his beloved family, which he loved, and was proud of.
So another new, bright star shines in the Heavens..and we pray we will meet again, God willing.
Love, Bill and Carol

Knowing Don for many years and working and socializing with him was always a pleasure. We had many past good stories to talk and laugh about when we would get together. The smile on Don's face in his obituary photo is a perfect example of his friendly character. Along with you Mary and family, Kathy and I will surely miss my pal Don.
Don rest in peace buddy.
