When I was 13 years old, my older brother Paul took me over to Earls duck camp on Lake Christina. Paul itroduced us and I was immediately impressed with Earl, his hunting camp and all of the interesting people who he had as members. As an adult, one of my favorite things to do was to drop in on Earl and his crew. It was fun to compare duck hunting notes and look at all the mounts and duck hunting paraphernalia in his cabin. I always ejoyed hearing Earl talck about the history of the duck camps on Lake Christina and his duck hunting experiences in the 40s and 50s. Despite our age difference, Earl and I became very good friends. We spent many fall days together sharing a duck blind. I feel very fortunate to have had the opertunity know Earl. He was one of a kind and I will never forget him.

Earl was my next door cabin neighbor on Lake Christina for as long as I can remember. My Grandfather and Father knew him too. He always walked over to give me a duck update whenever I arrived at my cabin. His presence has been missed the past few years in "Sleepy Hollow" and in Melby and on Lake Christina. I'm sure that he's now looking down on Lake Christina, keeping tabs on the Canvasbacks, and still hunting ducks, though in a much better place.
