Having known Amy since we were born, Big Ed was a second dad to me. I loved him dearly and will always remember the fun we had boating, the boat shows, and going to to fair at 6am with my dad. Those were wonderful times and I have the best memories of this wonderful man and his late wife, Judy. Thanks for making my childhood special! We'll all miss you greatly Big Ed~

I lived across the street from Ed, Judy and of course Brandy in Naples. I enjoyed many wonderful conversations with him as he was walking Brandy. I think of him often and what a wonderful and kind man he was. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences at Eds passing. I lived across the street from the Kalafats on Rome avenue growing up. Ed was always the consummate gentleman, he was really a terrific guy. I had the chance to visit with he and Judy about 10 years ago and it was so nice to reconnect with him, he was warm and we had a really nice visit. He was such a humble person considering all of his accomplishments in life, he always made you feel he was interested in you and what you had to say. The world was a better place with Ed in it and I will feel a loss knowing he is not still with us. A family man first, a friend to so many, and a giant in so many ways, I mourn his loss with all. I will keep his family in my thoughts. Joel Frankel

I met Mr. Kalafat when Kelly and I were roomates in college. He and her mom were always so kind to me. I remember what a big personality he was; and he gave me such a good friend!! I echo what Betsy said.

Big Ed was always a welcoming 'dad,' as I enjoyed Sunday dinners at the Kalafat home during college with Kelly. I always felt that it was a home away from home and appreciated the hospitality. Ed will be missed by many. Kelly and family, remember the good and cherish your memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
