Ernest STRECKER Obituary

Age 82 of Mounds View Lifetime resident of St. Paul Passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, New Year's Day. Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Marge; children Sheryl (Gary), Ed (Sara Jane), John (Lorrie), Dave (Michelle), 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and brother Martin (Martha). Known as Sonny, Streetcar, and 'the body' to friends and family, Ernie was a longtime employee of American Hoist and Derrick, later a bus driver for Medicine Lake Lines, and Korean War veteran. In the 1950's he was known as one of Washington Senior Highs standout football players. Ernie loved deer hunting and four-wheeling at The Shack up north, weekends at the cabin on Big Sandy Lake, traveling to the casino with Marge, and tracking every Twins game in his small spiral notebook. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing laughs, stories and drinks with his many family and friends. A celebration of Ernie's very memorable life to be held Thursday, January 7 from 5-8 p.m. lower level of the Roseville VFW, 1145 Woodhill Drive, Roseville. A family run service will take place at 6, refreshments to follow. Private interment in Rush City will take place in the spring. Memorials preferred to the family. Ernie - you were definitely one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

Sonny,

My memories of you go back to the weekends at Rushaven Resoort. You were the person that we all looked forward to seeing on those weekends, You were the life of the party there, just as you were at any function. I especially remember the fireworks on the 4th of July that we enjoyed because of you. I want to thank you for those memories, I will miss seeing a happy-go-lucky great guy!

Ernie "the bod", brother-in-law and friend. I always looked forward to the certain times of year (family fishing, hunting, etc.) we would get together -- always a good time being in your presents. Eldest founder of the shack you will be missed. My deepest sympathies to the entire Strecker family,Tom

Dave:

With each memory we meet again
With those we love..
For the heart never forgets,
Someone so special ----
Can never be forgotten
May love become your shelter, may you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always,
Strength in the companionship of those who share your loss,
And the beauty of precious memories
Be your comfort----
You are held in gentle thought and prayer.
