Gerald CASHILL Obituary

Age 90 of Mendota Heights, MN Passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022. Preceded in death by first wife, Marliss; parents James and Myrtle Cashill; and brothers James Jr. and Daniel. Survived by his wife Norma; sister Marilyn (Rod) Krass; children Anne Marie Cashill (Jose Vido), Jennifer (Larry) DeVore, Michael (Laura); grandchildren Brady, Bryce, Ellison DeVore and Keegan, Rowan, Brody and Boden Cashill; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Monroe High School where he played football, basketball and baseball and lettered 11 times. He was a proud Irishman and took pride in this heritage. He attended St. John's University and then went on to enlist in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honored to serve his country. After his service he returned to play baseball and a signed to play with the NY Yankees. He went on to graduate from Mankato State College. He spent his professional career in the oil industry until his retirement. His success in sales stemmed from his love of people. Jerry was a passionate golfer and sports enthusiast. He was an avid collector of golf balls, golf shirts, and golf hats. He enjoyed our family time at Lake Sylvan. He was proud of his family and celebrated in their accomplishments. He loved his role as Papa and enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports. Jerry lit up a room with his warm smile and pleasant conversation. "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand." Services to be held at Augustana Lutheran Church (1400 S. Robert St., West St.Paul) on Saturday, April 30th at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to Our Lady of Peace Hospice (of St Paul MN) or St. Jude's Children Hospital. 651-767-9333

I will always remember Mr. Cashill telling me to call him "Jerry" when I was a young teen. He was always so friendly with the neighborhood children and so approachable. He will be sadly missed .

My sincere condolences to the family. Jerry was a client
of mine for many years, as was his son Michael. I enjoyed the monthly appointments with Jerry. We would talk about his family (his pride and joy) sports of course, especially golf, politics and world affairs. Jerry was just plain interesting and funny, we had lots of laughs. Plus, Jerry was a good listener, because I love to talk and discuss my views on so many topics. Jerry was a good, kind and caring man. Rest in peace my friend.
