Thanks to all for your sympathy and sharing your remembrances of Dad.
Hers's one of the last good photos taken of Mom & Dad at my 60th in May of 2007.

Indeed, Uncle Gerald was one of my favorites. I remember as a boy of 11 years Uncle G taking me fishing early in the morning. He wanted me to catch a big bass. To that end he lent me his "favorite" lure, a wooden frog. Sure enough I immediate hooked a big one. After a long struggle, that "big lunker" broke my line and took off with that wooden frog. Uncle G was so good natured about the loss of both the fish and his lure. While he teased me about loosing the fish, there was never a mention about the lure. He was truly a kind man and true sportsman. I will miss him greatly.

It has given me much pleasure to read what others have left in the guest book, bringing back all the wonderful traits and doings of the beloved Uncle Gerald. "Maydee got the blues, the blues": that's how he always used to tease me, singing that to me and making me laugh. He made my Dad, who was always so serious, laugh too. He loved spending time with Uncle Gerald! My love to each and every one of my cousins and Aunt Marcie who have always been so much fun and a delight to be with.

Good bye Uncle Gerald you old Lion.
Such a dynasty you fathered, and such a legacy you have left. The tradition of visiting "Uncle Gerald" and Aunt Marce on Holidays will always be etched in my Memories of Minnesota. As will Whiskey for mouth wash on Lake Vacation mornings. Thanks for hanging around long enough for us to know you and love you well. And as Anna says: fare well to the last of the Lauer Brothers, of the greatest generation. Love to all the family, Martha Ann Lauer.

Uncle Gerald will truly be missed. He touched so many lives including mine. He gave me the only nickname I've ever had.
In peace,

Dear Lauer Family,
I will always remember Mr. Lauer and his beautiful garden that he tended to daily. What a wonderful family you all are. Your father walked the neighborhood for his exercise, attended mass and was a very spiritual man. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

Therese,
I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts. Sharing time and stories with my siblings was a great comfort to me when my Dad passed away last year. A big family really is a blessing during times like these. Take care, get rest, and stay hydrated.

Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time. Gardening at my dad's just won't be the same without Gerry tending his own just across the fence. He was a wonderful neighbor and my family will truly miss him.

Gerald was my favorite Uncle because he was so much like my Dad, and they got along so well. My husband always said he wished that Gerald was his Dad because he was so wise and fun and had so much common sense. We share in your sorrow at his passing and we rejoice in the memory of knowing such a wonderful man.
