Age 92, of Woodbury Passed away peacefully at home on December 27th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret; father, Paul; and brother, Cpl. Robert Engfer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Nancy (Overby); sons, Bob (Lisa) and David (Ann); grandchildren, Sara, Emily, Jon, Lauren, Megan, Carley; and six great-grandchildren. His 63-year career included working for Drover's (Bremer) Bank and Insurance Agency for 40 years and Minnesota Bankers Association for seven years. Ultimately, he spent 16 years with Avis Car Rental at the retirement job he loved. Gordon was an active member of Luther Memorial Church, Lutheran Church of Peace, and Beaver Lake Lutheran Church and served those congregations in various leadership roles. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year Award by the South St. Paul Jaycees. Gordon served as President of the South District Y's Men's Club, District Governor of the St. Paul Area Y's Men, Outstanding District Governor of the International Y's Men, Chaplain of the Mizpah Masonic Lodge #191, and President of the St. Paul Area Independent Insurance Agents. Gordon also headed numerous community drives for various civic causes, including the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. His faith and family were very important to him. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13th, at Beaver Lake Lutheran Church, 2280 Stillwater Ave. E., Maplewood, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Beaver Lake Lutheran Church.
