Henry Franz will never ever be forgotten. I would give so much to be able to go to breakfast with him again and talk about world events. He was a true philosopher.

I am so glad you keep the guest book open. Every time I pass a restaurant where I had breakfast with your Dad, where we talked about the German language he was studying, and about other world subjects, I regret his untimely absence. He was a wonderful person - hard to come by these days.

yes, I still think of your father, especially now in the warmer weather. We used to go to breakfast where we talked at lngth about his mannifold adventures in life and, yes, about German grammar. He was goodand eager at learning it.
He was always grateful and so polite - a rare character trait these days!
RIP Hank, Christiane Seiler, Minneapolis, MN

Thank you Cal for sharing your memories of our Father. It was so kind and wonderful for us to read an entry on his obituary page on the 4th year Anniversary of his death. We miss him every day but the anniversary of his death is tough for all of us as we can't believe how time passes without him. Really great to see this today, it brought comfort and you'll never know how much it meant! Thank you very much.

Hank's Family -I have been hoping to find Hank for years and Chef Pluntke did not know where he was and thought he might still be in Mexico where I worked with Hank ever day until about two weeks after the Princess opened. Oh what an inspiration he was! We cooked for the press and local Acapulco politicians and business leaders and we both worked the broiler station and did all the steaks which were shipped in from the USA and were Prime. Proud we were as it was a very large banquet of close if not over 1,000 and all were cooked medium rare to medium. Then the covers started to return and we always paid particular concern to what was left on the plates and to our shock steak after steak came back to the dishwash wth whole steaks , barely eaten, and hardy any that had been totally devoured. Pluntke was shocked and all the crew was in shock. Then we find out most residents ate Well Done because of the poor quality of meat in Acapulco at that time.
Just one little story from a great guy's life whom I dearly loved and listened to every word he spoke

Hank was a great person to spend time with. The sandy beaches of Acapulco, the golf outings, the tennis matches, the exploration of Mexico's villages brought him joy. But his joy was not full for he was too far from his kids. He was sad to leave Acapulco, but he was genuinely happy to go back to St. Paul and share in the lives of his children. Family meant lots to Hank, and I am glad to know family love was what he had at the end of his short journey. He did deserve that.
Friends don't get any better than you, Hank! You will always be remembered with love.

Hank has been in my German classes several times and was always very polite and attentive. He really wanted to increase his knowledge of German. A very fine person to have in an adult evening class. We also used to go to breakfast and look for small cozy places. While having breakfast, Hank would ask me to clarify for him some difficult grammatical concept of the German language. I enjoyed doing it for he would understand fast. Then he loved to talk about his family, i.e. his children and grandchildren whom he loved so much, and also tell me stories about his many trips. Such an interesting life! I am sure you, his family, will miss him a lot. He was a fine man!

Dad, My heart is broken, but I rejoice in the fact that you were able to meet your maker. I will NEVER forget the special memories and the togetherness we had these last few years. Despite your illness, my children and family had the pleasure of really knowing you & spending time with you, and allowing us to care for you--unforgetable! Rich & I and the kids cherish that time you lived with us. Thank you for allowing me to care for you! I will never forget being with you in your final hours here on earth! I know you are finally at Peace now, that is what gives me comfort. Just know how much you were loved, and the memories that are your legacy. Although there is a hole in our hearts, we rejoice at your new beginning.
Love always, your daughter Shelly

"The storm is over...the sun is out!"
Who know that the timing of that could be so true. The storm is over, and now you are at peace. I am so thankful for you, as you and my mom, Nancy, gave me the best siblings one could ever have! And an extended family that took me in as their own. For that I am grateful. I will never forget the Sadie Hawkins dance you catered for my friends and I at my moms! It was like having Chi-Chi's made for us at home. Great memories!
Your softspoken smile will be missed. Thank you for being part of my life.
XOXO
