Hildegard was to me a mentor and colleague. I looked forward to our lunch meetings when we both still lived in the same state. She was always supportive. She had a quick whit and a joyful spirit. Her devotion to her children was inspiring. I appreciated her most for her wisdom and humility. On my 40th birthday, she brought with her a copy of the book 'Bringing down the defenses,' by Arthur Foote. I still refer to this book a decade later and think of her.

Thank you Fern for informing me of her passing. One year later, I am certain that she is still greatly missed by family and friends.

i first met dr. graber back in the 60's when she was on the staff at the hastings state hospital and i was a mental health social worker for hennepin county. i also had contacts with her over the years when she did evaluations for the mental health division of the hennepin county court system. for the past 12-13 years i have served with her on the special review board of the department of human services.

i will never forget how concerned she was about my well being after the death of my wife in 1999. just a wonderful person and i consider it my priviledge to have known her. she will be greatly missed.

I am so grateful for having known Hildegard. I always think about trying to be just like she was in relationship to her reading. As a vibrant person in our book group, her ever detailed notes about our current book taught me so much more than what I got from the read. Her perceptions and learning energy were contagious for me. I looked so forward to my times with Hildegard. I miss her smile and friendly chuckle already. I remain inspired by Hildegard.

I often celebrated over the Fourth of July holiday with Fern, John, and her dear Mother at her beautiful home. We had a great time! I will always remember those events. My sincerest condolences to all of those who loved her.

I knew Dr. Graber in a professional manner. She brought to the occasions all that she possessed; intelligence, wisdom, insight, respect and compassion. I believe she is not a person anyone can soon forget. I will always remember her teasing and also encouraging comments to me personally.

Hildegard was a dear friend and an amazing woman. She was brilliant, funny and had a knack for reading people, after a brief encounter or simply based on a picture.

She loved her gardens and the river. A couple of years ago, she insisted on buying me some water lilies for a pond we were building, although we weren't even near completion. So we dug a smaller pond in the garden and named it Lake Hildegard. She got to see it a couple of months ago when I brought her over to our house. She was so excited she actually jumped out of my vehicle and started walking through the garden before she realized she didn't have her walker!

My life was fuller for having known her, and will be emptier now.

My condolences go out to the Graber family. Hildegard would want us to celebrate her life, not mourn her passing.
