Dear Corinne and families,
I was very, very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of "Uncle Jim" as I always knew him, even though he was really my Great Uncle (my mom's uncle). Russell was my grandpa, and he too passed FAR too early. Uncle Jim reminded me so much of Grandpa Russ that every time I saw him it made me cry and miss my Grandpa, but also so glad that he was around to be a "replacement"! He was so funny, fun, kind, generous, hard-working, inspiring, and a good old Minnesota boy! I loved it. He even helped me out with a few school projects, telling me stories of his days with Grandpa on the farm. So glad I have those now. We'll see them all in blessed Heaven!I pray for God to bring you comfort and peace this Christmastime. I am crying writing this. Big hugs to you all.

Dear Corinne, Cathy, Darrell, Mike & Jerry,
I want to offer my very Sincere Sympathy to all of you & your Families for the loss of "Jim", a great Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle & Friend to many. Even though I only attended Rush City HS for the 9th grade we always remained friends over the many years & I was looking forward to being with him at this next year's 60th Class of '51' Reunion. This event will not be the same without him.
I felt honored to be able to come to "Jim's" visitation on Tuesday to meet & visit with many of you Tuesday evening in Fridley.
This world has indeed suffered the loss of a great man who will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Very Sincerely,
Barbara Finnie

I always enjoyed seeing Jim at our high school reunions over the years--at those reunions, he appeared to have never changed. He seemed exactly as he had been in high school...friendly, full of stories, and full of humor. I moved away from Minnesota after high school, so did not have a chance to know him over the last years since graduating with him in 1951, but he was not a person one forgets easily. He made a lasting impression. My heart goes out to his family and friends as they have lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend--and our Rush City High School class of 1951 has lost as well. Great Aunt Corrine and family,
I am greatly saddened by your loss and want to send you my deepest sympathies. Papa Vern always spoke highly his brother, as did my mother, aunts and uncles. Lots of great stories beginning with the phrase " One time Uncle Jim..." He will be greatly missed.

Corrine, Cathy, Darrell, Mike, Jerry and families - We are so sorry to hear about Jim's (your dads) passing. I have always enjoyed being around him, listening to his stories and him playing the accordian. I loved listening to him and my dad (Art) go back and forth about whose tractor is the better one. He is a very special man that has brought much laughter to others. I hope that he and my mom connect in heaven. God be with you all. Love Cindy & Jim Brickman, Brooklyn Center, MN

Although I did not know Jim that well in this life, I feel I know him through his son Jerry. I am Jerry's neighbor and have known the Bergstroms since August of 1997 when we moved next to them. These were/are the grandest people one would ever want to live next to and have as neighbors. I met Jerry's dad, Jim, on several occasions we were invited to celebrate throughout the years with the Bergstroms....Christmas's, Thanksgiving's, graduation's and just backyard get togethers. As I recall, Jim was always moving about and "doing" something....I do so admire those kind of hard working men....always figuring out what they can do and doing it!
With the exception of the lack of wearing "suspenders", Jerry has many of the fine qualities and grand characteristics that his dad set the example for him to follow. Jim was a real "family" man with a charitable giving heart. What a wonderful example of a role model was Jim for his kids and all those he knew and those who had the privilege of knowing him. I did learn some things about Jim that I did not know from reading his obituary. I know Jim Bergstrom will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and those he has helped and influenced in his life here.
Jim Bergstrom brings to mind a saying I have hanging in a frame in my home, I don't know who said it but it states: Live in Such a way that if anyone Should Speak badly of you, no one would believe it.
Condolences to all the family of James D. "Jim" Bergstrom, especially to Corinne, Jim's wife of fifty four years.

We are extremely shocked to hear the passing of my uncle Jim. I have many fond memories of family gatherings with Jim/Corinne and my cousins. Especially during childhood Christmas gatherings at my Grandpa Carl Falk's farm. Jim was always full of fun and brought a smile to everyone he touched.
You will be greatly missed.............
Our deepest sympathy to Corinne, Darrell, Cathy, Mike, Jerry and their families.
