I have no doubt that James Gadow is in Heaven, as a firm believer in Christ and one who kept his faith alive receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus in Divine Service, he showed that he understood the importance of The Lord in his life. Thanks be to God for Jesus and the salvation He gained for us! Although he no longer drove, James still made the effort to go and spend time with Jesus, nearly every Sunday (save a few due to health issues). Although the thought of James in Heaven gives me comfort, I am still sad at the loss of him being here, saying sweet and silly things like "Howdilly Doodilly?", and always taking time to see how things were going with me. I still can picture him standing outside his front door as I dropped him off from church one Sunday. I had the privilege of bringing him to his house on several occasions. It was fun listening to his stories about his genealogy, and all the interesting people he was related to, like someone "Bloodaxe" and how he got his name. He also talked about how certain phrases came about and what they really meant: like "how to skin the cat" as the "cat", not the animal, was an old torture device, and I won't explain more for the faint of heart. I remember one time when I drove him home, I was waiting until he got to the door before I drove off, but to my surprise he brought me one of the beautiful flowers that had bloomed in his garden. What a sweet and thoughtful man!I have many wonderful memories that I could share, but that is enough to share here. I am blessed to have had his great friendship and to have been his "Honorary Granddaughter", and to have had him as my "Honorary Grandfather". I will miss him, especially on Sundays, when I'd see him most.In Christ,Amy Bjornson

In case you are wondering, I was in John's 1983 class at CA. The church's email is [email protected]. Once again, my condolences.

John and Ruth,
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I currently work at Bethlehem Lutheran in the office. What a small world. My prayers and peace to you both and your families.
