James H. UNDERHILL

Age 80, of Plymouth Jim died February 24, 2022 at Methodist Hospital, surrounded by family and the love of his many friends and neighbors. Predeceased by parents Ralph and Joyce; older brother Ralph, Jr.; nephew Eric; and granddaughter Vanessa. Survived by wife of 59 years, Marilyn; son David (Stephanie); daughter Pam (Scott) Kroyer; grandchildren Nicole, Andres, Lanie, Will, Molly; great grand children; brother Lloyd (Patricia); nieces and nephews. You might say a great man leaves big shoes to fill, but Jim leaves big gloves. Graduated from Alexander Ramsey in '59, he was always known by his high school buddies as Big Ung, for his big hands (and height). Those hands won him a part in community theater and served his family for decades as a graphic designer and his neighbors and loved ones as someone who was always there to help. Jim's passions included his family first, travel (especially to New Orleans), golf, weekly cribbage with his high school buddies, and – as soon as the weather broke – vintage car shows every weekend. His son promises to take care of his "'56 Chevy." (Yes, Dad, he knows it's a '55.) Jim leaves big gloves to fill and a huge, huge hole in many hearts. We are so proud to be your legacy, Dad. We celebrate your life every day, but we'll have a party this spring, so your buddies can lose to you in cribbage one more time.
