I am so saddened by the loss of this special lady. Mrs. Kruse was a very important part of my life growing up, as was the whole Kruse family. Jane was almost a second mother to me. She was classy and funny and caring all at the same time. Jane was always willing to set another place at dinner and what dinners they were! I'll never forget the care and planning she put into them, right down to the dessert. I remember cantaloupe halves with vanilla ice cream in them; I thought that was the most clever thing to serve ever! And could that lady pack a picnic! She would make special lunches for Nancy and I to take out to the weeping willow tree in the back yard.
She would often joke about buying me a pair of shoes because I often went bare foot. She loved her chosen life of mother, wife and house keeper. When I do something special for a meal at home, I often think of the lessons Jane told me of doing it up right. Though our lives have not connected much in the years since, I treasure all the good times I spent at the Kruse household and give my deepest condolences to Rich, David and Nancy. She loved you all so deeply. I am sorry that a family illness keeps me from attending the memorial service today. I will be there in spirit.
