Joel W. Stangeland

Age 66 of White Bear Lake Passed away June 3, 2010 in the comfort of his home. Preceded in death by parents, Owen and Florence. Survivors include his wife, Mariann; children, Steve, Jodi (John) Chaplin and their mother, Roxonna, and Barb (Scott) Sammons; grandchildren, Edward, Nathan, Bethany, Madeline, Dorian, Addyson, Claire and Ava; brother and sisters, Wyonne (John) Goodwin, Virgil (Beverly) Stangeland and Cynthia (Joe) Glanzer; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Joel put up a good fight trying to defeat brain cancer, which eventually cut his life short. Even though the road was tough, Joel was always gracious and appreciative of those around him-always making sure he gave words of "thanks". He was always a farm boy at heart. Joel followed a career in the dairy industry working as Corporate Quality Assurance Manager for Land O Lakes, and finishing as a Compliance Officer for the state of Minnesota. He was passionate about keeping our food safe! Volunteering was another of his passions. He helped at the state fair Moo Booth, various paint-a-thons, and at church. A man of faith, Joel was always seeking to strengthen his and others relationship with Jesus. At church, he enjoyed being a greeter, prayer team member and grounds keeper. In all his endeavors, Joel was known for his warm smile, kind eyes, friendliness, and honesty. He was a kind, caring and thoughtful person to all his family and friends. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren, and was a mentor and friend to many. Joel was an avid outdoorsman, loved being out in nature, woodworking and going to the Saints games. He is now enjoying the presence of Jesus in Heaven, and hopes to see you there when your earthly race is completed. Buffalo St @ Hwy 61, White bear Lake.
