John ARNESON Obituary

Age 98 Died April 18, 2022. Preceded in death by parents John and Petra, wife Maxine, and son David L. John/Bob enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in December 1942. He was a Decorated Combat Veteran serving in WWII on islands in the South and Central Pacific and in Korea. He is survived by his grandaughter Malia Weinhagen, great-grandchildren Shelby, Duncan, Agatha and Birgit Weinhagen, sister Jeanette Buck, niece Kirsten Buck May, nephew Arne Buck, cousin Gunnar Holt, and extended family in Norway. He was a Life Time Member of V.F.W. Post 555, the American Legion Post 435, the St. Paul Norske Torske Klubben, and a member of the Zurah Shrine temple, Mpls. He was a Founding Member of the Minneapolis South High School Foundation. He retired with 34 years of service in both Northwestern Bell and AT&T in 1980 as a National Account Manager. He was very proud of his Norwegian Heritage and visited Norway many times. He graduated from Mpls. South High School in 1941 and received a BA Degree from the U of M. Visitation Wednesday, April 27th, 3pm-7pm at BRADSHAW, 3131 Minnehaha Ave. S., Minneapolis. Service Thursday, April 28th, 11am (Additional visitation at 10am) at MINDEKIRKEN NORWEGIAN LUTHERAN MEMORIAL CHURCH, 924 E. 21st St., Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers Memorials to Mindekirken, the Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church, and the Shriner Children's Hospital, Twin Cities. 612-724-3621

I'll long remember you, Uncle Bob. The end of an era.
Thank you for maintaining the family relationships, here in the USA and in Norway. I shall venture out to that country before long.

Oh dear sweet John. How I will miss seeing you ride the exercise bike and hearing your deep voice talking to Brett. Then afterwards you'd stop by the puzzle table to see how Michael and I were progressing! Thanks to you I found a missing piece to the huge 2000 pc Classic Car puzzle in my wheelchair swing arm! Your gentle spirit and adorable smile will leave a void here.

I was honored to be able to hold your hand and talk to you. You squeezed my hand so I know you heard me. You were a blessing to my life and to do many others.
