John Jurek Obituary

Jurek, John S. Age 85 Of Brooklyn Park Passed away on 1/15/08 in Naples, FL. Preceded in death by parents and siblings. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Agnes M.; children, Thomas L. (Ann) Rost of Davis, CA, Richard J. (Bhunnee) Jurek of Naples, FL and Leanne Bachrach (Jack Iwanik); 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Edwin (Doris) Jurek. John serviced in the U.S. Army during WWII and was in the Battle of the Bulge as a Master Sergeant, was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He worked in accounting at Great Northern Insurance Company which became Chubb & Sons Insurance and then retired with Carlson Companies. John and his wife received the Presidential Award for Volunteer Service with the VA, North Memorial Hospital and American Cancer Society personally from President Bush in 2005. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 1/24/08 at 10:30AM at the Church of St. Alphonsus, 7025 Halifax Ave N., Brooklyn Center. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church and also Wednesday from 5-7PM, with prayer service 7PM at: Washburn McReavy Robbinsdale Chapel 763-537-2333 4239 West Broadway
