John LONGBOTHAM Obituary

Age 70, of Seattle, Washington Passed away on May 30, 2023 Preceded in death by parents Jean L. and John R. Longbotham. Survived by daughter Suryn Debnath (Shawn) and their children Nolan and Naeya Debnath; son Murray; wife Kyung Ae; siblings Lynn Olsen (Michael), Debra Vadnais and Steven (Sandra); and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. John attended Nativity of our Lord grade school, Cretin High School class of 1971 and then graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Environmental Design. John lived an amazing life of adventure as an international architect working in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Singapore, along with Saint Paul and Seattle. Specializing in hospital design, John designed hospitals and medical centers all over the world. He also published Health Asia Magazine. John loved the North Shore of Minnesota and the sights of Seattle. He celebrated life's journey with his love of photography and ancestry. A private memorial is being planned by the family for a later date.

John was the son of my cousin Jean Longbotham nee Lanpher. My wife and I caught up with him and his adventures when we visited Seattle in 2012 and 2019. He was a generous man with an infectious delight in all things Seattle. We will miss him. Our prayers go out to his family.
