Joseph DUERSCHERL Obituary

Beloved Son, Brother, Cousin and Friend Age 63, of West St. Paul. Passed away on June 1, 2023. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph C. and Luella A.; brother, Jim; and his beloved grandpa, Louis Williams. Survived by step-mother, Adeline; brother, Steve (Peggy); sister-in-law, Sharon; and many other relatives and friends. Joe used his larger-than-life personality and sense of humor to present a "whatever" attitude that he used to disguise his genuine interest in the well-being of his family, friends and neighbors, as well as his caring and concern for kids and critters. Joe would demonstrate his gratitude for favors received by reciprocating with over-the-top generosity, making a person feel welcome and appreciated even as he roasted you with tailor-made insults. Memorial Mass 11 AM Wednesday, June 7th at the Church of St. Joseph, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Gathering of Friends 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Special Thanks to the doctors and nurses at United Hospital. 651-457-6200

Prayers and condolences to Joe's family. My name is Ed Aguirre and Joe and I were good friends back in high school and beyond. I spent a lot of time at his parents house back then listening to and recording music together. I can remember the fridge downstairs was always loaded with frozen Tombstone pizzas, and we ate a lot of them!! We also played a lot of tennis together which was a lot of fun. In high school even though we did not go the the same school, we would cruise around a lot in his parents car and later on in his car listening to music and having a great time. He also installed a few stereo systems in my cars along the way also. We had lost touch as I started to raise my family, but I always wondered what Joe was up to. He was a great friend that would do anything for you and expect nothing in return. May you rest in peace Joe and we will meet again.

Sending all the love to our beloved Duerscherl family. I have so many fond memories from my childhood because of Joey! He welcomed us all as family and made sure we were always laughing and having a good time! What an amazing person!!

I am saddened to learn of Joe's passing. I personally experienced Joe (and the Duerscherl) family love and hospitality as when we were at St Matt's. I spent many a day in the Duerscherl basement playing the game D'Jur with him....and I usually lost. He was my favorite "westie".

Please accept my condolences at this difficult time. My all those great memories assuage the grief you now feel. I have no doubt he has reunited with those who preceded him on the journey to heaven.
