Joseph Hinkley Obituary

Hinkley - Joseph E., age 81 of Lake City, formerly of St. Paul and Minneapolis on Dec. 21, 2001. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Bernice (nee Sheehan) of 53 years; son, Stephen and wife Elizabeth of Lake City; beloved granddaughters, Christine Tessman and husband Douglas of Maple Grove, and Jessica Hinkley-Reese and husband Jeremy Reese of Lake City. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Hinkley of Lorton, VA, Marilyn Bush of Minneapolis, Rita Finnegan of Rosemount, Delores Sheehan of Farmington, and Beaa Sheehan of Lake Geneva, WI. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Mina; brothers, William and Roger; and half-brother, Roy Bush. Joseph was a graduate of Minneapolis Central High School's class of 1939, and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. Joe was self-employed in the retail food business for more than 20 years, serving the West 7th Street and Rice Street areas. After selling his business he began working for Super Value and retired in 1986. Joe enjoyed golfing, hunting, and other sports. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church (Norfolk at Prior Ave.'s, St. Paul). Visitation 4-8 PM Wednesday at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home (575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul) 651-698-0796. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association or donor's choice.
